Dear Readers,
The first poem is something I wrote at the beginning of the year and believe it shows a little bit of my funny yet serious side of my personality, haha. So feel free to laugh or better yetā¦ try writing a poem all about you! (Itās quite fun, actually š)
Happy Reading!
Pronouncing āMEā
Itās Merissa
with an āEā
canāt you see?
Itās called
Pronouncing
the name of
a queen whoās
born of the sea.
Sheās walking the
streets of Gold
sheās got her own flow
and learns to glow,
donāt you know?
Merissaās
not a joke
she makes the
demons choke
ācause sheās been
chosen for
this moment
by the king
Yeah, itās their
covenant
sealed by the
ring onā
Merissaās
finger and
her name is
written on
the band likeā
thereās no
misspelling
whatās been
spoken, right?
This isnāt a
game, alright?
If you need
to knowājust
ask her, bro!
Itās Merissa.
Identity
and Destiny
move with this Queen because
her name is
in a story
calledāGod with us.
Honestly,
the āMā with
āEā is
Glorious becauseā
Merissa
walks in
purpose
say, what?
She donāt lean.
Only holds the
pose of a
queenāwhat do
you mean here?
Itās called
Pronouncing
āME!ā
Wait to See
I cant see
whatās ahead.
So instead
I rest my head
on your chest
and let you lead
me into whatās next.
I cant see
but I believe
in the purpose of
every season change.
When you turn the page
and we leap into
what I never knew.
I cant see
whatās growing in me
but I trust in you
and give you this load
as I walk on this road.
And wait to see
the outcome when
I am home.
Foundation Scriptures:
āYour eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.ā
Psalm 139:16 NKJV
āTo everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven ā¦
A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing; A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away;Ā A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak;Ā A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war,
And a time of peace.ā
Ecclesiastes 3:1, 5-8 NKJV
Personal Thoughts:
Well, today is my 20th birthday! (Woohoo!) And I have had plenty of time to sit and reflect on these two decades I have been on this earth.
The first poem I shared was something I wrote back in February. I classify it as a silly humor poem, but truly it meant something deeply to me when I first wrote it. I was in a dark season and wanted to remember who āMerissaā is. So, I wrote a poem about myself and all the things God has ever said about me.
The line where it says āBorn of the seaā is actually the meaning of the name Merissa. And even though Iāironicallyāam not much of a beach girlā¦ I have learned and am learning to walk the wild waves of life with Christ.
Also, in case anyone was wondering, the whole poem highlights āmisspellingā my name because it is very common, haha.
But it also symbolizes how people may misspell or misunderstand our own identities and destinies. Something Iām sure everyone can relate to in some shape or form. Sometimes we all have to learn how to āpronounceā ourselves and proudly share with others who defines us.
Since the day I was born, 20 years ago, Jesus Christ has defined me by what He wrote in His Book. Which leads into my newer poem, about the changes in life. Iām very excited for this new chapter that is about to begin!
None of us may know what waits for us tomorrow, but itās all apart of the beauty of reading Godās story for our own individual lives.
Thank you all for your love and support!
